Time to rethink recantations

A piece from Rob Warden, Executive Director of the Center on Wrongful Convictions in the Chicago Sun-Times about how recantation evidence is seen by the courts in Illinois and calling for the Supreme Court to “avail itself to the opportunity to advise judges who hear future recantation cases that their role is not to determine whether a recantation is true but rather whether it undermines confidence in the original verdict.” Which of course it does in Shawn’s case and in many others.
